Duran Duran will be joining a star-studded lineup on 8 January 2021 for A Bowie Celebration: Just For One Day!, a global streaming event as a David Bowie tribute, on what would have been his 73rd birthday.

Hosted by Mike Garson, David Bowie’s longest-standing band member, the stream kicks off at 6pm PT / 2am GMT and brings together a dazzling array of artists who worked with Bowie, or were deeply influenced by him and his work.

Other performers added to the lineup include vocal sensation Adam Lambert, UK chart topping Yungblud, three-time Grammy nominee Andra Day, actor/musician Michael C Hall, Mott The Hoople frontman Ian Hunter, singer-songwriter and virtuoso guitarist Anna Calvi, award-winning composer Atticus Ross, Kind Heaven Orchestra vocalist Etty Lau Farrell, and How To Destroy Angels vocalist Mariqueen Maandig Reznor. Also featured are Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails), Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins), Oscar-winning actor Gary Oldman, Gavin Rossdale (Bush), Perry Farrell (Jane’s Addiction), Joe Elliott (Def Leppard), Grammy-winning singer Macy Gray, Ian Astbury (The Cult), Lzzy Hale (Halestorm), Gail Ann Dorsey (David Bowie, Lenny Kravitz), Bernard Fowler (Rolling Stones), Corey Glover (Living Color), Tony-winner Lena Hall, vocal phenomenon Judith Hill (Grammy winner for 20 Feet From Stardom) and Charlie Sexton (David Bowie, Bob Dylan).

They’ll join alumni members of Bowie’s bands spanning his 1969 self-titled album through his final album, Blackstar. Newly announced alumni returning to honour Bowie include Grammy Award-winning guitar legend Peter Frampton who was childhood friends with David and was featured on Bowie’s Never Let Me Down album and his Glass Spider tour. Also joining the show is Grammy Award-winning saxophone phenom David Sanborn who recorded on Bowie’s Young Americans album and was featured on his 1974 Diamond Dogs tour. Yes keyboardist Rick Wakeman also joins the special A Bowie Celebration stream, having played piano on Bowie’s Space Oddity, Hunky Dory and The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars albums.

A Bowie Celebration is to donate $2 per ticket purchase to the Save The Children organisation, a charity important to Bowie and the beneficiary of funds raised from his 50th Birthday Concert held in 1997 at a sold-out Madison Square Garden featuring many of the very artists who will be featured on 8 January during this special global streaming event. 

Starting at 6 pm PT / 2am GMT, the David Bowie tribute show will be available for ticket holders around the globe to enjoy live and for 24 hours after its initial stream.
