Bright Red - VixFuzzbox

Vickie Perks, aka ViX Fuzzbox, will join a whole host of artists including Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s Brian Nash, at the Bright Red fundraising music festival in Newcastle on Friday 16 August.

The charity event, taking place at Newcastle’s The Cluny, is raising funds for Bright Red, an organisation which supports hospitals and patients dealing with blood cancer across the North East.

The festival, featuring an eclectic array of talent from around the UK, runs from 2pm to 11pm and includes sets from ViX and Brian Nash.

International Rescue

ViX formed Fuzzbox, originally known as We’ve Got a Fuzzbox And We’re Gonna Use It!!  with Magz (Maggie Dunne), Jo Dunne and Tina O’Neill in 1985. Hailing from Birmingham, the group gained popularity with their debut album, Bostin’ Steve Austin, which included notable tracks like Love Is The Slug.

Their second album Big Bang! reached No.5 on the UK album chart and included three Top 40 singles: International Rescue (No.11), Pink Sunshine (No.14) and Self! (No.24).

After the group disbanded in 1990, ViX pursued other musical projects including ViX n The Kix, ViX & her MsChiefs, and The Victoria Perks Band. She released a number of records including LovePower And Peace in 2008.

She has regularly performed with a reunited Fuzzbox and, following the passing of Jo Dunne in 2012, an album of re-recorded and reworked material from their back catalogue was released in 2022 called We’ve Got A Fuzzbox and We’re Going To Use It – Reimagined/Reimagined Too: The Best of Fuzzbox Reimagined .

Welcome To The Pleasuredome

Guitarist Brian Nash, who will be playing an acoustic set at the event, began his music career performing in local Liverpool bands before joining Frankie Goes To Hollywood. After the group disbanded in 1987, Nash pursued a solo career and released a number of albums including: RipeLe Grande Fromage and A Lo Minimo.

In 2011 Trinity Mirror published his autobiography Nasher Says Relax and he reunited with Frankie Goes to Hollywood, alongside frontman Holly Johnson, to perform at the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest.

Tickets for the all-day event cost £15, with all profits going to Bright Red. For further information, including the full line-up, tickets, or to make a donation to the charity, click here
