Previously unheard Tina Turner track on Private Dancer (40th Anniversary Edition)

This morning, BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show with Mark Goodier unveiled a previously unheard Tina Turner track, Hot For You Baby.

Recorded at Capitol Studios in Hollywood, the thought to be lost song was intended as an album track.

Written by Australian musicians George Young and Harry Vanda with production from John Carter, Hot For You Baby forms part of a 40th Anniversary Edition of the much-missed singer’s fifth solo studio album, Private Dancer, set to be released on 21 March.

Listen below:

Triumphant Comeback

Originally released in May 1984, Private Dancer marked Turner’s triumphant comeback. The 5x platinum record peaked at No.2 on the UK Albums Chart and No.3 on Billboard. Turner later won four Grammy Awards, including Best Female Rock Vocal Performance for Better Be Good To Me and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year for What’s Love Got To Do With It.

Private Dancer (40th Anniversary Edition) will be available as a 5CD/Blu-ray collection, a 2CD set, a 1LP pearl vinyl, and a 1LP picture disc. It offers a stunning array of previously unreleased tracks, live performances, and footage.

Electrifying Concert Footage

The 5CD/Blu-ray edition includes the newly upgraded 55-minute Private Dancer Tour show, filmed at the NEC in Birmingham between 23 and 24 March 1985. Directed by David Mallet and featuring unforgettable performances with David Bowie and Bryan Adams, this landmark concert has been meticulously restored by Mallet, offering a front-row experience of Turner at her electrifying best.

In addition to the live performance, the collection includes five upgraded music videos, with Private Dancer fully restored to HD from its original 35mm film.

The striking 1LP picture disc features the official UK/EU cover on one side and the US cover on the other, while a limited-edition 1LP pearl vinyl includes a 12×12 art card of the US album artwork. Jason Draper has written the liner notes for the 5CD/Blu-ray set, featuring insights from Paul Cox, Holly Knight, Arlene Phillips, and Martyn Ware.
